Snax Game in Progress
No weekday comic updates for the rest of this week and all of next week — I’m working on the Snax game engine and art assets at home. I’ve reached the point where further design work during lunch hours requires an actual framework to graft the content on to.
I’ll post progress updates and screenshots as art assets, animation and menus are completed, though.
Also, weekend updates (Metal Fist) will still go ahead as normal.

Nope. It’ll be an adventure exploration game. Text-adventure-like interface with some graphics with some RPG elements (battles, stats, Persona-style s.link events to unlock abilities). Lots of exploration, lots of hidden goodies, some puzzles. Lots of dungeon crawling, though the entire world could be consider one big dungeon (for example, to flee a battle, you might GO NORTH or CLIMB LADDER and try and outrun the thing — there’s no separation between battle and non-battle commands).
There are some fun gimmicks, too, like: type tsundere-style insults to do combo attacks with Snax, respond with the correct song verses when Calistor summons monsters and casts spells… there are plenty of neat non-battle abilities, too, like remote item location and sensing, plant harvesting and potion brewing (Asatimine’s specialty), spell crafting/song writing and tea brewing (Calistor), etc.
A lot of things are time dependent, too — for example, some potions can only be brewed during full moons… and if you sleep on Parnell’s Giant Warm Rock during the turning the seasons, you can get a good dream (bonus scene) and get a nice stat bonus…
Lots of locations to explore, too: the frozen ash underworld, Snax’s castle, the abandoned Mopple village and explore around the Roffle Mines, you can follow the Great River and explore around the various forests and hunt some legendary beasts…
Once the engine is done and the art assets are done, it’s just rapid writing. Since the writing doesn’t have to be that good (just amusing) it’ll be fast.
It’ll be done in Flash/Adobe AIR (the only way I’ll be able to build the thing at fast enough a pace).

There’s actually a lot more choice than Flash for cross platform gaming now, some in python (like pygame, and others), some in ruby (gosu, and others).

I seem to remember being able to compile multiple vns with the Renpy engine … though perhaps for this dressing game flash is better (drag and drop or strip clothes with the mouse, maybe?)

Snax is the Overlord of a particularly strange dimension where sorcery seems to be structured like internet protocols and applications. Her home dimension is not as unstable nor as fluid as that “living internet” we see in media such as Serial Experiments Lain; rather it has stable form and a wide variety of people and things that have gathered from different dimensions. Snax dwells there in her fortress, which resembles a large stone structure made in the Palladian Revival fashion. As she is a Lord, she is never without the company of her attendant Mr. Mopps and 1D4 x 3 other Mopples who wait on her hand and foot. While Snax is a capable Lord with plenty of talented people and beings in her service, she is easily bored*** and finds it difficult to stay focused on any one particular task for long hours at a time unless she becomes obsessed with the thing she is working on. As a result the wizards and witches who work for her find her difficult to work under because she is often all over the place or focused on something only tangentally related to what they are supposed to be working on.
Note: TMB refers to the Unisystem Supplement, _The Magic Box_. ANG refers to the Angel Core Rulebook. Also, Snax’s spells usually manifest as projected computer commands even though they affect realspace. Thus if Snax had Megaleap it would look like a Rocket Jump from Quake. The “proper” name for one of Snax’s spells is in parentheses next to the title she gave it. If relevant illustrations are available for showing this point, I’ll provide tinyurls to them.

Well, I’m running behind, no surprise. I rewrote Metal Fist to make it a self contained story instead of a snippet of a larger fictional series…
… well, anyway, I’ll post with most details tonight. I’ll probably have a screencap of the snax game in progress, too.

Rock on.
As time goes on I’ll continue to stat the major characters of each comic. The minor characters will get the NPC Shorthand Sheet (since they don’t show up all the time, they don’t need a full character sheet). Thus while Nana will be fully statted Mr. Box will only get the Shorthand Sheet.
